Have A Heart For Animals

This is an invitation to all CHB members to create a piece of art to be auctioned at an event for the Red Door Animal Shelter, which is a no-kill shelter for rabbits, cats and dogs. This event will be held at the Woman Made Gallery, (685 N. Milwaukee Ave.), on a date to be determined sometime around Valentine's Day, 2009. There is potential for a well known auctioneer to be conducting this highlight of the evening.

This is a great opportunity for both the CHB and Red Door Animal Shelter to gain exposure with a new venue and audience. The media is up to the artist; however, please have a theme that relates in some way to animals. In addition, please be cognizant of using non-animal related materials, i.e., no leather, etc.. This is a great opportunity to show your creativity through any type of book art, broadsides, assemblage, fabric art, mixed media, photography, painting- the sky is the limit!

This is an important fund raising event for the shelter, which is a not-for-profit organization that relies on occasions like these to keep the shelter running. Your participation will mean so much to the animals and staff of the Red Door Shelter! This is an important event for CHB, as well, to broaden our exposure to the Chicago community! I will need to know of your interest no later than Monday, December 1, 2008, to know if there are enough entries to have this event.

If you are interested in participating, please e-mail me with your name as soon as possible, to: jakotz@hotmail.com

Thank you!
Jackie Kotz, Red Door Animal Shelter Board Member and Chicago Hand Bookbinders member.
